RICKY P. also known as Ricky Parish, has been playing guitar nearly his whole life. His parents bought him his first guitar at age 8. After several years of playing, he formed his first band The Alliance. In 1986, he moved to Los Angeles, Ca. He studied under a local guitarist, Terry Kilgore, who also grew up with the Van Halen brothers in Pasadena, Ca. Ricky P. started to play the local Scene in Pasadena.Ricky P. formed his own band called Primo. They attained moderate status. In 1998, Ricky P. moved to Tucson, AZ. to be closer to his parents. He formed the Blues Gypsies. They quickly became one of the most sought after blues bands. In 1999, Ricky P. met Diane Hooker, daughter of blues legend John Lee Hooker. She offered him a management contract. In 2001, Ricky P. was offered an opprtunity to play with John Lee Hooker. Mr. Hooker and Ricky P. hit it off! Ricky P. was invited to play with him on several tour dates until his untimely death in June of 2001. Left with a great void, ricky P. went into the studio with The Blues Gypsies to write several songs. In August 2003, Ricky P. relocated back to los Angeles. Since then, he has had great success playing throughout California. Ricky P. joined forces with Blues Bassist Elizabeth Hangan from Pasadena, Ca., Drummer Lance Crane from Sherman Oaks, Ca., Jason Hemens who is playing Saxophone and Harmonica comes from New Orleans, Howard Seamans is on Trumpet, and Keyboardist Stephanie Menner from Burlington, Vt. The "New" Blues Monsoon is an amazing array of talent. They are currently working on a CD Project "Just Another Card In The Hat" Scheduled for release Summer 2005.
